Explosion on Prusa Street. Where was the ambulance?
Two people were injured and seven evacuated. For half an hour, firefighters could not contact the emergency medical service about sending a second ambulance. Eventually, they transported the injured person to hospital themselves.

Dariusz Kwaśniewski becomes Bolesławiec County head
The change took place after the previous county head, Cezary Przybylski, resigned because he had been elected Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. Kwaśniewski’s candidacy was supported by thirteen councillors; three voted against and the same number abstained.
The fountain on Asnyka Street dismantled
The structure had been out of use for more than 20 years. In the future, the site is to be developed.
A gay kiss at Orka?
Six couples, including one same-sex couple, signed up to take part in the Valentine’s underwater-kissing championship. The organisers accepted the entry.

Mayor’s awards for promoting the city
Our journalist received the mayor’s award for 2013. Grażyna Hanaf published the novel “Joachim”. It features Gliniada, Blues nad Bobrem and the Bolesławiec Ceramic Festival.

Historic courtroom restored
Courtroom No. 21 is located in one of Bolesławiec’s most interesting Neo-Gothic buildings. The building was erected in 1861–64. Originally, it housed a secondary school. The western wing contained an assembly hall—the building’s main ornament.

Family tragedy in Bolesławiec
Bolesławiec police received a report that two people—a 36-year-old mother and her two-year-old son—had been taken to hospital. The woman had cuts on her wrists and two abdominal wounds; the child had as many as five stab wounds to his abdomen and a forearm wound. The child was saved by an outstanding team of doctors from the Bolesławiec hospital.
PWiK company of the year for the second consecutive time
The Bolesławiec water utility received a silver certificate confirming the highest quality of products and services.
Szpikolada: nearly 500 potential donors registered
The third edition of Szpikolada, an initiative of the Complex of General and Vocational Schools, ended in great success. Nearly 500 potential donors were registered, approximately 11 litres of blood were collected, and more than PLN 5,000 was raised in a public collection for a boy suffering from leukaemia.

Bolesławiec residents voted for Civic Platform in the European Parliament election
Civic Platform won almost 36% of the votes in the city, while Law and Justice won 26%. Cezariusz Rudyk received 2,386 votes in constituency 12, more than one thousand more than Alicja Janiec and Bogusław Nowak.

The Ceramics Department building on Mickiewicza Street was modernised as part of the second stage of the Via Fabrilis project—the route of craft traditions.

In Mojesz (Lwówek Śląski municipality). Lower Silesian Marshal and long-serving Bolesławiec County head Cezary Przybylski had a flat tyre and lost control of the vehicle, then hit safety barriers and the fence of one of the properties. He was sober.
The Stefanik school had the worst matura results
