were carried out at the District Prosecutor’s Office in Bolesławiec.

The charge against him was changed. Initially, the man was suspected of attempted murder and an active assault on a police officer while the officer was performing official duties. He is now charged with the murder of a police officer.

According to investigators, on 24 September 2026 in Kraśnik Górny, Mariusz G., acting with the direct intention of taking the life of a police officer, fired a shot at him from a firearm—a Browning HP 9 mm semiautomatic pistol.

As a result of the shooting, the police officer sustained a head wound in the occipital region with extensive brain damage. He died on 25 September.

The prosecutor’s office also indicates that G. is suspected of illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition. During a search of the residential premises he occupied on 24 September, a psychotropic substance in the form of amphetamine was also found.

Mariusz G. did not admit to murdering the police officer. He gave an explanation. The offences with which he is charged carry a penalty ranging from 15 years’ imprisonment to life imprisonment.

The man is in custody. On 25 September 2026, at the request of the District Prosecutor in Bolesławiec, the District Court in Bolesławiec ordered his pre-trial detention for a period of three months.
