The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon. The Reader described the situation as follows:
At the skatepark, a bunch of kids, pardon my language, little sh*ts, on scooters. As if making enough noise to disturb people and parents wasn’t enough, they also deliberately honked their horns to make life miserable for them. They said it themselves—that they had the right to because there is no nighttime quiet period. And they honked even more just to spite everyone.
She added:
What’s more, when you tell them off, they brazenly insult older people, ride around and throw water balloons. They show that they rule the place, like some kind of mafia (…).
As she stressed, the worst part was that the family went somewhere else—for the sake of peace and quiet. But the scooter riders, “with masks covering their faces,” followed them. “Like some gangsters.”
We asked the Reader whether she intended to report the matter to the authorities. The woman replied:
Probably not. When I took out my phone, they scattered and I let it go. You can’t prove anything against kids like that.
The issue returns regularly. On June 23, Nowogrodziec – news wrote yesterday:
We received an entire recording from a resident, but decided to publish only a frame from the video.
The author of the material reports:
“No helmets, riding two abreast, riding on the left side of a municipal road, riding head-on, failing to stop and passing a car coming from the opposite direction on the left side... This will end badly one day.”
The service added: – The situation occurred on the road between Parzyce and Nowogrodziec. We appeal for common sense and compliance with safety rules; a moment of bravado can lead to tragedy.
The issue returns regularly. In mid-June, we reported that a Reader of Nowogrodziec – news wrote:
Yesterday (June 13—editor’s note, istotne.pl), while driving along Mickiewicza Street, I had a boy of about 12 riding a scooter in front of me. I was driving toward Dino, and so was the boy. There were probably two parked cars in the right lane that had to be passed. A van was coming from the opposite direction, and instead of stopping or at least moving onto the pavement, the boy squeezed through, passing the cars and the van at the same time!
She added that this was by no means the first situation of this kind:
I don’t know whether the parents of children who move around the streets so boldly know how their children ride. Some time ago, I also had an incident involving a boy on a scooter. The boy then came out from a road by the blocks onto the main road toward the cemetery, cutting diagonally across the road to get to the other side. He held the handlebars with one hand and a phone in the other, staring at it instead of looking at the road ahead!
I was driving toward him! He almost went under my wheels!
She appealed:
PARENT!!! Take an interest in your child! Talk to them about road safety when riding a scooter!
Meanwhile, on The Bad Bunzlauer a photograph of a young scooter rider near the viaduct in the City of Ceramics appeared at the beginning of June. The author accompanied it with a humorous but spiteful comment:
A little dude on a scooter—properly wearing a helmet. Admittedly going the wrong way on the “main road,” but you can’t expect everything from young people 😁
He immediately added:
Let’s enjoy the little things.
And indeed. New regulations concerning the safety of the youngest road users came into force on June 3, 2026. Children and young people under 16 riding bicycles, electric scooters and personal transport devices will have to wear protective helmets. The aim of the changes is to reduce the number of serious head injuries and increase safety on roads, cycle paths and in public spaces. More on this subject in the article: An Important Change From Today. Helmets Mandatory on Bicycles and Scooters.
The photograph reignited the discussion about young road pirates on the roads of Bolesławiec.
As we have unfortunately already emphasized, the issue is not new. Let us recall. On April 19, we quoted a post from The Bad Bunzlauer:
There used to be gangs: rockers on Harleys, mods on scooters. In the age of TikTok... I don’t know, maybe scooter gangs?
The recording shows a group of children riding scooters across virtually the entire width of the traffic lane. At one point, one of them—with complete nonchalance—crosses a double solid line and moves into the opposite lane.
A forum user left a telling comment below the recording:
I also have a recording of these boys’ antics. They rode under cars, attacked drivers who drew their attention to it, and kicked cars. I have photos and recordings; if the injured person is reading this, please contact me privately. A report will also be sent to the police, because it is not normal for children aged 8–15 to kick cars and ride under vehicles in the city center.
We had covered the issue much earlier as well. In September last year, we wrote that we had received two reports about the same subject on one day. The first Reader:
Please address the issue of a group of young people on bicycles and scooters. They gathered on the lawn near Asnyka Street, where there used to be a ceramic fountain, and then set off down the city toward the Market Square at high speed. The incident occurred at around 6 p.m.
And commented:
Because of groups of youths “terrorizing” pedestrians on the pavements, people are afraid to leave their homes.
He added:
I am an able-bodied person, but what are older people supposed to do when, due to health limitations, they are unable to get out of the way of a speeding scooter or bicycle?
At the head of the group was a young man using an audible warning signal, which meant that no one was injured.
The Reader noted that he had spoken about it with a policewoman, but she was reportedly busy with another intervention at the time.
About 1.5 hours later, another Reader wrote to us:
This is how our young people have fun.
And sent us the following video:
As we reported at the end of April, the police are dealing with the case of scooter users “terrorizing” drivers. We will return to the subject.
