At the request of the District Prosecutor in Lubań, the court ordered the 36-year-old’s temporary detention for three months. The man is suspected of a series of intentional acts of property damage and making criminal threats.

He damaged the doors and equipment of a Totalizator Sportowy betting shop

Investigators determined that on June 23, 2026, the man damaged the internal glass doors and equipment of a Totalizator Sportowy betting shop in Lubań. He threw various objects at them, causing approximately PLN 2,000 in losses.

On the same day, he also allegedly damaged a community refrigerator, known as a food-sharing refrigerator. In this case, he threw a concrete block at the appliance. The damage was estimated at PLN 3,000.

A broken shop window and a gravestone

Another incident took place on August 24, 2026. The suspect intentionally damaged the double-layered glass in the entrance door of a Netto store. The losses were estimated at PLN 2,933.

In turn, on August 13, 2026, he destroyed one of the gravestones at a cemetery in Lubań. (He broke the slab out of its mounting and detached it from the monument’s structure.)

In this case, the damage was estimated at PLN 12,000. What is more, investigators emphasize that the man desecrated the place where the deceased person was laid to rest.

Vandalism in the allotment gardens

Further damage occurred at the turn of September and October 2026. On the grounds of the Family Allotment Gardens in Lubań, the suspect damaged the equipment of one of the summer cottages.

The most serious charges, however, concern events on October 1.

That day, the 36-year-old allegedly threatened one of the injured parties with murder and burning down her shed. In view of the man’s aggressive behavior, she had a reasonable fear that the threats would be carried out.

The suspect admitted only some of the charges

During questioning, the 36-year-old admitted only to damaging property belonging to Totalizator Sportowy and Netto, as well as destroying the community refrigerator.

The man had previously been convicted by the courts numerous times. He allegedly committed the offenses in conditions of recidivism.

The offenses with which he is charged carry a sentence of up to 7 years and 6 months in prison. The District Court in Lubań decided to order his temporary detention.
