At the turn of August and September, we reported on new disruptions at the new bridge over the Bóbr in Bolesławiec. At the time, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announced that the temporary traffic organization would remain in force until around mid-October, that is, until the completion of works at the Jerzy Szmajdziński Roundabout.
However, this deadline will not be met.
As Magdalena Szumiata, spokesperson for the Wrocław branch of GDDKiA, has just informed us, the section of Zgorzelecka Street toward the city center is not expected to open until the end of November:
We plan to open the exit from the Jerzy Szmajdziński Roundabout toward the city center (the section of Zgorzelecka Street) at the end of November this year.
GDDKiA explains the reason for the delay
The date was postponed because of additional work related to the ground. As the spokesperson explains, replacing its deeper layers proved necessary during the project.
– The postponement is due to the replacement of deeper layers of the ground, which require additional work – added M. Szumiata.
– We want to prepare the ground as well as possible and thereby ensure the durability of the infrastructure, which is why the completion date has been extended – the spokesperson explains.
Residents point to the progress of the work
Shortly before receiving the road authority’s response, a reader, a local resident, also contacted the editorial office and expressed concern about the pace of the work. According to her account, little is happening at the construction site, and there are too few workers for the work to progress at the expected pace.
Is the new date certain?
Spokesperson: – There are currently no threats to meeting this deadline.
