Today we received information from the General Inspectorate of Road Transport:
(...) the camera is not used by GITD.
Update 2026-10-15
A reader suggested that it might be a camera belonging to the Road Transport Inspectorate, since it is pointed at the road. Here is the response from the Wrocław ITD:
In this matter, the Dolnośląski Wojewódzki Inspektorat Transportu Drogowego is not the competent authority to which this letter should be addressed.
Readers asked us about the device installed on a pole beside provincial road no. 382, near the intersection and church in Warta Bolesławiecka. Their attention was drawn to a new yellow camera pointed toward the roadway.
Questions arose as to whether it is part of municipal monitoring, a device used to measure traffic volume, or perhaps a system connected with monitoring drivers. It is also unknown who owns the camera, how long it is to remain there, and who might potentially have access to the recorded footage.
We decided to check whether the Warta Bolesławiecka Municipal Office and the Dolnośląska Służba Dróg i Kolei in Wrocław had any information on the matter.
Municipality points to road manager
First, we contacted the Warta Bolesławiecka Municipal Office. The answer was brief: the office did not initiate the camera’s installation, and questions on the matter should be addressed to the manager of the provincial road, namely the Dolnośląska Służba Dróg i Kolei in Wrocław.
DSDiK does not know who installed the camera
We therefore asked DSDiK about it. Here is the response:
The Dolnośląska Służba Dróg i Kolei has no information about the reasons for installing the camera and does not know who owns it.
The road manager added:
According to our information, the utility pole is located outside the provincial road right-of-way.
Does the camera monitor drivers?
So far, we have not received an answer to this question. One thing is certain: it was not installed there at the initiative of the Warta Bolesławiecka municipal authorities.
The question asked by residents therefore remains: who installed the camera, and what is it actually used for? We will return to the subject.
