A reader informed us about an illegal rubbish dump in a small forest in Nowe Jaroszowice (Bolesławiec gmina).
Let us therefore recall a comment Jarosław Babiasz, head of the Agriculture, Real Estate and Municipal Services Department at the Bolesławiec Gmina Office, given on another, albeit similar, occasion:
As a gmina, we regularly clean up these kinds of “gems” – a symbol of the perpetrator’s stupidity – provided they are located on municipal land. In other situations, in accordance with the law, we are forced to call on the landowner to clean it up, and the owner then seeks compensation from the perpetrator.
J. Babiasz added:
This problem can only be described by paraphrasing the words of Captain Wagner from the film C.K. Dezerterzy: “There are no words in the vocabulary of civilised people that could describe such conduct with sufficient insult.” Of course, here I should quote once again the words of Mrs Margaret Thatcher from an article about vandals, but I will shorten it to the punchline – we all pay for such cunning. Last year alone, we spent PLN 11,000 from the gmina budget for this purpose, while this year we have already spent PLN 2,000.
Of course, I am aware that once again my comment will cause a stir among people who relativise such behaviour. Nevertheless, I continue to appeal for the same things: taking care of our money, being alert to strange occurrences (for example, a delivery van with or without a trailer in an open field or under a forest along an unpaved road, far from buildings – farmers generally do not drive into fields in low-loader vehicles) and, above all, taking care of our small homeland.
