The District Prosecutor’s Office in Lubań has filed an indictment with the District Court in Bolesławiec against two police officers: 35-year-old Krzysztof M. and 39-year-old Roman G. The officers were accused of certifying false information in a report on the search of a property in Małomice (Żagań County) belonging to Henryk M. The officers wrote that they had searched it. According to investigators, this did not happen at all.
The prosecutor’s version: In 2011, Roman G. was handling proceedings concerning the theft of drain grates in Świętoszów (the value of the stolen property was estimated at PLN 1,500). He questioned a suspect who said his name was Henryk M. and that he lived in Małomice.
Krzysztof M. and Roman G., together with the suspect, went to Małomice, where it turned out that the latter did not have the keys to the apartment, so the officers abandoned the action and returned to their unit. Krzysztof M. then drew up a report stating that the property had been searched. The document dated August 3, 2011 (drawn up in Osiecznica) was also signed by G. and the suspect.
It later emerged that the suspect had provided the personal details and residential address of an acquaintance, Henryk M. He also forged the Małomice resident’s signatures.
The police officers did not admit guilt. They now face up to 5 years in prison. Separate proceedings are underway against Andrzej P., who claimed to be Henryk M. from Małomice.
