Held for several years, the event took the form of a festival for soldiers, civilian defence employees and their families. The Polish contribution was a promotional stand where soldiers of the 28th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent KFOR introduced visitors to the base to Poland, its history and cultural heritage. The exhibition on the participation of the Polish Armed Forces in missions abroad attracted considerable interest and enhanced the Polish stand with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in the Republic of Macedonia.

For the younger participants, however, the competitions were the most interesting. To the soldiers’ surprise, the entries in the drawing competition on the theme “What does Poland make you think of?” featured a full cross-section of the most characteristic figures and events from the history of our country.

The organisers also provided culinary specialities—dishes characteristic of the cuisines of the individual countries. Traditional Polish krówki toffees were especially popular, particularly among children. The festival brought together several hundred participants, who learned more about the countries making up the international KFOR forces in Kosovo through entertainment and enjoyment.

The Polish Military Contingent KFOR in Kosovo carries out a stabilisation mission and forms part of the Multinational Battle Group – East. As part of its operational activities, the Polish contingent monitors compliance with international agreements and treaties in order to create conditions for safe living and the normalisation of the situation in its area of responsibility.

The core of the new, 28th rotation of the Polish Military Contingent in Kosovo consists of soldiers from the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment in Bolesławiec—the unit responsible for forming and preparing the contingent—as well as the Special Branch of the Military Police from Mińsk Mazowiecki and the 1st Storage Battalion from Olsztyn, belonging to the 1st Logistics Brigade.
