The issue of transforming the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment into a brigade arose during the September session of the Bolesławiec County Council. County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak, while presenting a report on the most important actions taken during the period between council sessions, also informed attendees about the funding and unveiling in Bolesławiec of a bust of General Tadeusz Jordan-Rozwadowski.
On that occasion, he also referred to the future of the Bolesławiec unit:
I would like to remind you that General Tadeusz Rozwadowski is the patron of our 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment. I hope that at the beginning of next year he will also be the patron of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade in Bolesławiec.
The regiment is to become a brigade
Plans concerning the future of the Bolesławiec military unit have been discussed for some time.
A possible return to the name “23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade” would not only be an important structural change, but also a reference to the garrison’s history. The Bolesławiec artillerymen operated as a brigade until the end of 2011; on 1 January 2012, the unit was transformed into a regiment.
