In Lubań, joint operations by the services were carried out in the railway areas as part of the nationwide “TOR” operation. The operation involved police officers from the County Police Headquarters in Lubań, representatives of the Railway Protection Guard from Węgliniec, soldiers of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment from Bolesławiec and an officer of the Independent Police Prevention Unit in Legnica.

The aim of the operation was to increase railway safety and protect infrastructure against threats that could disrupt the proper functioning of rail transport.

They checked the tracks, railway station and the area around the signal boxes

During the operation, the uniformed services checked the railway station area in Lubań, the railway routes running through the city and the area around the signal boxes. They also checked locations where tracks are crossed without authorization.

Particular attention was paid to so-called “unofficial crossings”. The officers also checked whether public-order regulations were being observed in the railway areas and whether there were any situations that could pose a threat to people using the infrastructure.

The “TOR” operation and infrastructure safety

According to the police, the operation focused, among other things, on preventing potential acts of sabotage and diversion and identifying threats that could affect passenger safety and the proper functioning of railway infrastructure.

The inspections were also preventive in nature. The presence of several services in the area of railway infrastructure is intended to enable threats to be identified earlier and any irregularities to be addressed more quickly.

Joint operations by the Police, the Railway Protection Guard and the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland also enable the exchange of information and coordinated responses in places important for the safety of railway traffic.

The “TOR” operation is intended to increase the safety of passengers, railway workers and residents.
