On Thursday, Minister of National Defence Jerzy Szmadziński presented Bolesławiec soldiers with decorations for services to the country’s defence. The commander of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Brigade, Stanisław Butlak, received his promotion to the rank of general from the minister. “I took it as a sign of recognition and distinction—not only for me, but for the entire brigade,” said Stanisław Butlak. During the March inspection, the brigade’s performance was assessed as good.
The organisers of the festival, held immediately after the decorations were presented, prepared many attractions. Scouts from the Bolesławiec Szare Szeregi Scout Troop performed on stage. Visitors could watch knights’ fights and court dances performed by the Syrokomla knightly group.
Military cuisine specialities awaited everyone, including traditional pea soup. Many games and competitions with prizes were prepared for children. Horseback rides and archery at targets proved especially popular. During the festival, the art competition “The Military in Our City” was also decided. The festival ended with a bonfire and a dance.
The “Let’s Be Together” festival was organised by the Bolesławiec Branch of the Military Family Association. Soldiers and their families, civilian employees of the unit, and invited guests took part.
