Officers from Bolesławiec and Nowogrodziec detained three men, aged between 22 and 25, suspected of stealing diesel fuel. The first detention took place on the night of October 12–13. Near one of the railway sidings in Bolesławiec, officers noticed two men stealing fuel from a stationary train. What is more, in the suspects’ car, police officers found three canisters containing fuel (60 litres) worth more than PLN 360.
The third thief stole fuel from a lorry. He attached a barrel of stolen diesel fuel to a moped, which had also been stolen, and drove away. The 25-year-old was caught because... the barrel had a hole in it. The trail of spilled fuel led officers straight to the suspect’s home, where they found a 60-litre canister and the moped.
All three now face up to 5 years in prison.
