Exercises codenamed “October 2026” took place on 5 and 6 October in Bolesławiec County. Their aim was to check the preparedness of services, inspections, emergency services and the administration to act in crisis situations, as well as to practise cooperation between the various entities.

Action at the PCPR. Employees and people inside the building were evacuated

One of the exercise scenarios involved a threat in the building of the Powiatowe Centrum Pomocy Rodzinie. It was assumed that a package containing an unidentified substance had arrived at the facility.

In connection with the incident, employees and people inside the endangered building were evacuated. The services also checked the procedures for notifying the relevant units and authorities, as well as how operations should be conducted in the event of a potential chemical threat.

As part of the exercises, specialist rescue forces, including a chemical group, arrived at the scene. The organisation of operations, the exchange of information and cooperation between the various services were examined.

It was an exercise, but the scenario assumed a real threat

Although the activities at the PCPR were part of an exercise, its scenario was prepared to test the participants’ response to a situation requiring rapid decision-making and the application of appropriate procedures.

The organisers verified, among other things, how evacuation, the transfer of information and cooperation between the services and the administration would be conducted in a situation involving a threat.
