The tradition of Bolesławiecki Ośrodek Kultury-Międzynarodowe Centrum Ceramiki is to organize morning theatre performances for kindergartens and schools in the Forum hall. In March, Teatr Współczesny from Kraków performed; further performances will take place on Friday (16 March), and in a week actors from Agencja Teatralna Joanna will appear (“Seen from Olympus” on 27 March).

The Kraków actors prepared the play “Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp”, introducing children to the culture of the Far East and the customs and rituals once practiced there. The play was based on Oriental elements. The scenery attracted attention, transporting viewers into the extraordinary fairy-tale world of Scheherazade. The unforgettable atmosphere of the show was enhanced by surprising video projections as well as original, colorful costumes and props.

The actors invited the children to join in the fun. The morals emerging from the individual sequences showed that in life it is worthwhile to be guided by truth, honesty and goodness. The friendship between Aladdin and the genie from the enchanted lamp served as an example to follow in the real world.

“Mission Aphrodite” is a meeting of the future with the past. By stimulating the young viewer’s imagination, the performance revealed the secrets of the world of mythology. The action began in the distant future, in the year 2299. Books had been completely replaced by a network of Internet servers, from which people obtained knowledge about their ancestors. When a virus appeared on one of the servers, erasing the data of ancient history, the history of humanity was threatened with annihilation. A special agent set out into the virtual world of mythology on a mission to repair the system. The fate of the world depended on him.

A total of 1,200 young viewers attended the three morning performances. The next four performances by Teatr Współczesny from Kraków will take place this coming Friday.
