The incident occurred during the night of August 29–30, 2026, at a venue operating on the grounds of the Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre on Spacerowa Street in Bolesławiec. After 1:00 a.m., residents were woken by loud explosions.

The bang could be heard not only in the immediate vicinity. It reached, among other places, Jana Pawła II Street, on the opposite side of the city. Residents also complained about loud music and claimed that similar situations occurred at the venue more often.

Police arrived twice

The Bolesławiec District Police Headquarters confirmed that it received two reports that night concerning disturbance of the nighttime peace. The reports, submitted via the 112 emergency number, concerned two different streets.

The first was received after 1:00 a.m. About ten minutes later, officers from the Prevention Department arrived at the scene.

– In conversation with the reporting woman, the officers determined the direction from which the noise had previously been coming, said junior inspector Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer for the Bolesławiec police.

The officers found the event participants there, but when the patrol arrived, there was no loud music or other noise. The participants also denied having used fireworks.

Following the second report, the officers returned to the scene. They spoke with the female organizer, who informed them that the party was just ending. During this intervention as well, the officers found no disturbance of the nighttime peace.

Venue confirms that guests set off fireworks

However, the response from Moments Event House indicates that fireworks were indeed used by the party participants.

Representatives of the venue explain that a 50th birthday celebration was taking place there. Moments Event House was only making the venue available and was not the event organizer. Due to personal data protection, the company does not disclose who rented the facility.

– We were not informed in advance by the organizer or guests about the planned use of fireworks. Nor did we give permission for their use, said the Moments Event House team.

The staff reportedly learned about the display only when the first explosions occurred.

– Our waitresses realized that the fireworks had been set off by the party participants. By then, however, the situation was already underway and there was no realistic possibility of reacting sooner, the venue’s representatives explain.

This means that the participants denied to the police that they had used fireworks, although the venue staff later confirmed that the guests had set them off.

Moments Event House apologizes to residents

The Moments Event House team assures residents that it understands their complaints.

– We are sorry that this situation affected the comfort of people living in the area. We care about maintaining good relations with residents, the venue’s representatives said.

The company announced that it would introduce a clear ban in contracts for organizing parties on the use of fireworks and other pyrotechnic materials without the required permissions. Customers are also to be regularly informed about the ban.

MOSiR director spoke with the tenant

Bolesławiec City Hall said that the restaurant is operated by a private tenant. The agreement does not require the tenant to report private functions such as weddings, first communions, birthdays, anniversaries or corporate events.

According to City Hall spokeswoman Agnieszka Gergont, no complaints concerning the operation of the restaurant on Spacerowa Street had previously been received.

After the incident, the MOSiR director reportedly held an intervention meeting with the tenant. The business operator was required to maintain full control in the future over situations that could disturb the peace or nighttime rest of residents.

The office also emphasized that it does not issue individual permits to private individuals or restaurants for the use of publicly available pyrotechnic materials.

However, the city’s response contains a discrepancy. The office described the event as a wedding reception, while Moments Event House said it was a 50th birthday celebration.

The Municipal Sports and Recreation Centre did not respond directly to the editorial team’s questions.
