Residents of Bolesławiec who noticed a distinctive Solaris test bus on the streets several months ago probably did not expect that similar vehicles would soon permanently join the fleet of Miejski Zakład Komunikacji.

As reported by the industry portal Transinfo, on July 22, 2026, Gmina Miejska Bolesławiec selected the offer from Solaris Bus & Coach for the delivery of two low-floor Solaris Urbino 10.5 electric buses together with a charger. This marks another step toward modernizing public transport in the city.

The amount allocated to finance the order: PLN 6,334,500. Total price: PLN 6,273,000.00 gross.

The information comes as no surprise to people following changes at MZK. In May, this type of test bus operated on the streets of Bolesławiec and was tested on all public transport lines. At the time, MZK president Andrzej Jagiera told istotne.pl that if the vehicle met the carrier’s expectations, it could become the future of the city’s fleet.

The tested Solaris Urbino 10.5 is larger than the electric buses currently operating in Bolesławiec. It can carry more than 70 passengers, has a fully low-floor design and three doors, which makes passenger exchange at stops easier and could improve service punctuality.

Currently, Bolesławiec is mainly served by nine-meter electric buses and ten-meter vehicles with diesel engines. The purchase of the new Solaris buses would mean the arrival in the city of larger, more spacious electric buses.

If the procedure ends with the signing of an agreement and completion of the order, these will be the first Solaris Urbino 10.5 buses in the MZK Bolesławiec fleet. For passengers, this primarily means greater travel comfort, better accessibility for people with reduced mobility and more seats compared with the smaller electric buses currently in operation.
