Tuesday’s storms led to a dangerous incident in Brzeźnik. After lightning struck, a tree caught fire, and the flames threatened a nearby grain field.
Firefighters from OSP Brzeźnik, OSP Ocice and OSP Gościszów were immediately dispatched to the scene. A police patrol was also assigned to the operation and secured the incident site.
The greatest danger was that the fire could quickly spread to the dry grain. In such conditions, even a small fire can cover a much larger area in a short time, which is why the emergency services’ swift response was crucial.
Thanks to the efficiently conducted operation, the firefighters brought the situation under control and prevented the fire from spreading. At this time, there is no information about any injured people or significant material losses.
The services remind residents that during storms, lightning strikes can cause fires in trees, forests, agricultural fields and buildings. If fire or another danger is spotted, the emergency number 112 should be notified as soon as possible.
