A dangerous incident took place in Karkonosze County. Police officers from the Police Station in Karpacz arrested a 50-year-old man suspected of making criminal threats against his former partner and throwing a knife in her direction.
According to the officers, the man behaved aggressively during the altercation. He allegedly threatened to take the woman’s life and then threw a knife toward her. The victim managed to dodge it, and as a result suffered no injuries.
A police patrol was quickly dispatched to the scene. The officers arrested the suspect later that same day.
Prosecutor imposed preventive measures
After his arrest, preventive measures were imposed on the 50-year-old man. By decision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra, he was placed under:
- Police supervision seven times a week,
- a ban on approaching the victim,
- a ban on contacting her,
- a ban on leaving the country.
The case is being conducted under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office.
He faces up to 3 years in prison
The crime with which the man is charged carries a sentence of up to 3 years in prison. The court will decide his further fate after the proceedings are completed.
Police remind the public that every form of domestic violence and criminal threats should be reported to the relevant services. Officers also appeal to people not to remain indifferent in situations that may endanger the health or life of others.
