The incident occurred during a traffic stop conducted by officers from the Police Station in Nowogrodziec. The officers decided to stop a passenger car whose technical condition raised their doubts.
As the officers established, the driver and his passenger, residents of Lubań County, were heading to the water to cool off during a hot day. They had consumed alcohol earlier.
During the conversation with the driver, the officers immediately detected a strong smell of alcohol. The man claimed that he had drunk only one beer. However, after opening the vehicle’s door, the officers noticed an open alcohol bottle inside the car. A breathalyser test showed that the 35-year-old had… more than 2.5 per mille of alcohol in his system.
That was not all. A check of the data in police systems showed that the man was subject to three lifetime bans on driving any motor vehicles, imposed by the District Court in Lubań.
The inspection also showed that the car had neither a valid technical inspection nor the mandatory third-party liability insurance. Because of the violations discovered, the vehicle was secured and its registration certificate was retained.
The 35-year-old will be held responsible for driving while intoxicated and for failing to comply with the driving bans imposed by the court. He will also face consequences for driving a car without a valid technical inspection and mandatory third-party liability insurance.
