The June session of the Bolesławiec City Council is under way. During it, a topic that has attracted interest for years—not only among local residents, but also among people following issues concerning security and the presence of allied troops in Poland—returned to the discussion. It concerns the potential role of Lower Silesia and the City of Ceramics itself in the context of infrastructure connected with the presence of the United States Army.

President Piotr Roman: – Ladies and gentlemen, don’t ask where the base will be or where Fort Trump will be, because even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you.

The mayor noted that analyses of this kind consider locations situated closer to major airports. At the same time, he stressed that this does not rule out other activities and investments carried out outside the immediate vicinity of the largest airports. He pointed out that major investments are, after all, being carried out in the Świętoszów area and around Kozłów and Trzebień.

He added that US Army soldiers do not use the name “Bolesławiec” because it is phonetically difficult for them. That is why they say: Fort Boles.

The presence of allied troops in Lower Silesia regularly returns to the public debate. So far, no official declarations have been made confirming the establishment of a new permanent US military base in the Bolesławiec area. The discussion itself, however, shows how much attention residents devote to issues related to security, investment and the region’s role in the broader geopolitical landscape.
