Criminal investigators from the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec identified and detained a man suspected of damaging three cars by scratching their paintwork. The incidents occurred at night, on different dates and in various parts of the City of Ceramics.

As investigators established, the perpetrator allegedly acted at random—during nighttime walks, he selected vehicles he encountered and deliberately damaged their bodywork. Among other things, police secured surveillance footage showing the moment one of the cars was damaged. As established, this vehicle had been purchased just a few days earlier and had only just left the dealership.

The suspect also heard charges concerning damage to two more cars in another part of the city. In every case, the damage involved deliberately scratching the bodywork.

The detained 54-year-old city resident confessed to the acts he was accused of. In his statement, he said that he used a stone to damage the cars.

The man will stand trial for property damage. Because he acted while under recidivism provisions, he faces up to 7.5 years in prison.
