On Thursday, 4 August, Bolesławiec police conducted a “Seat Belts” operation. Officers paid particular attention to whether drivers and passengers were wearing fastened seat belts. The results are not encouraging. Officers inspected 100 cars. As many as 70 people were travelling without fastened seat belts. What is more, police caught 5 drunk drivers (three of them had their driving licences confiscated).

Police remind everyone: seat belts are the most effective way to ensure safety while driving. Half of the fatalities in road accidents could be alive if they had been wearing fastened seat belts at the moment of the collision. What is more, failing to fasten a seat belt is an offence punishable by a PLN 100 fine and 2 penalty points.
