A dangerous incident occurred on Saturday afternoon at Panieńskie Skały in Lwówek Śląski. Two men were on the rocks where, as police established, they were drinking alcohol and taking photos together. At one point, the 64-year-old man slipped and fell from the rock.
Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. Because of the difficult terrain, firefighters, police officers from Lwówek Śląski and an emergency medical team were involved in the operation. The rescuers had to work in challenging conditions to reach the injured man safely.
Officers established that the 64-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol. The test showed nearly one per mille of alcohol in his system. The circumstances indicate that the accident occurred while he was posing for photos on the rocks.
Services emphasize that such places, although often chosen as viewpoints and tourist attractions, can be very dangerous. A moment of inattention, a wet surface or loss of balance is enough for tragedy to occur.
The police appeal for common sense and particular caution when staying on rocks, cliffs or mountain viewpoints. Combining alcohol with such activities significantly increases the risk of serious accidents.
This is another example of a situation in which an ordinary photo could have ended in tragedy. The services remind people that safety should always be more important than spectacular photographs or a moment of adrenaline.
