The forest fire broke out on Saturday, May 2, in the evening, near Kozłów. The situation is under control, but the fire is still burning, and firefighters are currently focusing on mopping it up.
A total of 16 fire service units have already been dispatched to the scene. Additional forces arrived during the operation, demonstrating the scale of the incident and the need for the services’ intensive involvement.
Approximately one hectare of young forest was burned. Due to its structure, this type of forest can catch fire quickly. Firefighting aircraft are also being used in the operation, supporting the response from the air by dropping water on the most endangered areas.
At present, there is no information about anyone being injured, which is one of the most important pieces of news for the region’s residents. The cause of the fire is not yet officially known, although the services do not rule out human involvement.
Firefighters point out that the operation may continue for many more hours—it may even last until morning.
The uniformed services are appealing for caution and asking people to avoid the area near the incident so as not to hinder the rescue operation.
