Starosta Tomasz Gabrysiak said during the April session of the Bolesławiec County Council that the councillors of Kunice Municipality had decided to merge the Independent Public Healthcare Facility – the Health Centre in Kunice – with St. Luke’s Hospital in Bolesławiec.
We reported as early as March that this was to happen. Our county councillors made the decision on the matter during the March session of the aforementioned body. They were unanimous – 15 voted in favour.
The document’s justification states:
The merger will take place on the basis of an agreement under which all the assets of the Independent Public Healthcare Facility, the Health Centre in Kunice, will be transferred to the Healthcare Facility in Bolesławiec, while retaining the name Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec for the merged entities, without conducting liquidation proceedings for the merging entities.
What is the purpose of the merger?
The draft resolution reads:
The purpose of merging the facilities is to continue providing the existing range of medical services, expand access to healthcare services, improve the conditions under which they are provided and achieve higher quality.
What is the current factual and legal situation?
Bolesławiec County is the founding body of the independent public healthcare facility called the “Healthcare Complex in Bolesławiec”. Under the provisions of the Medical Activity Act, the founding bodies of independent public healthcare facilities may merge these facilities by agreement when the facilities have different founding bodies.
What will be the financial consequences for the budget of Bolesławiec County?
Document: – Adopting the resolution will not have financial implications for the County’s budget.
