The process of consolidating the hospitals in Bolesławiec and Zgorzelec is entering its decisive phase. As Bolesławiec County Head Tomasz Gabrysiak announced during the August meeting of the Bolesławiec County Council, the key change is to take place on the night of August 31 to September 1.
The county head informed councillors that the computer systems of both facilities are scheduled to be switched over precisely then. This is to be part of the technical launch of the new entity, which will henceforth operate as the Bolesławiec-Zgorzelec hospital.
The county head added:
We also know that the KRS judge's decision will be issued with that date (September 1 – ed. istotne.pl).
One entity instead of two hospitals
The consolidation of both facilities is the result of an agreement signed on March 25, 2026, at the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The document launched the formal process of merging the hospitals operating in Bolesławiec and Zgorzelec.
The aim of the initiative is to create a single, stronger and financially stable healthcare provider that will provide residents of both counties with comprehensive healthcare. According to the plans, the consolidation is to enable better use of the staff, infrastructure and assets of both facilities.
The local authorities also pointed out that combining the potential of both hospitals could in the future make it possible to expand the range of medical services and improve their availability.
The head of the new entity will be Kamil Barczyk, the long-serving director of Szpital św. Łukasza in Bolesławiec.
