The incident took place on April 13, at around 11:00 a.m., on Chojnowska Street in Legnica. Officers from the local traffic police noticed a car whose technical condition raised serious concerns. When the officers signaled the vehicle to stop, the driver ignored their commands and began to flee.
The chase quickly gained momentum. The man was driving at high speed, making dangerous maneuvers and posing a threat to other road users. The operation soon moved onto the A4 motorway toward Wrocław, where additional patrols joined in.
During the escape, the driver caused collisions with four vehicles. The situation became so serious that at one point he tried to run over the intervening officers. Faced with an immediate threat to life, one of the police officers fired a warning shot.
Ultimately, thanks to a coordinated operation and the decisive response of the services, the vehicle was stopped and the driver subdued. Police determined that the man behind the wheel was a 23-year-old resident of Wrocław County.
The man was subject to an active court-imposed driving ban. Moreover, he was serving a sentence under electronic monitoring—also for driving despite a ban. His behavior may now result in serious legal consequences.
Police emphasize that the officers’ decisive and professional response helped prevent a tragedy. The 23-year-old’s case will now be decided in court.
