A dangerous fire broke out on Monday, 13 April 2026, in Parzyce. At 2:46 p.m., firefighters from Nowogrodziec were alerted to a fire that was quickly spreading across one of the properties. Upon arrival, firefighters found a rapidly developing fire already covering a substantial area.
The officers were forced to open the gate by force so they could begin firefighting operations as quickly as possible. First, they directed a stream of water at the flames, protecting a wooden shelter that was directly threatened by the fire. The firefighters then went on the offensive, trying to bring the blaze under control.
The fire covered approximately 30 ares of land, including grass, around 90 ornamental trees, and elements of the property’s equipment. Thanks to a fast and coordinated response, the fire was prevented from spreading to the residential buildings, which were ultimately saved.
Units from OSP Nowogrodziec, OSP Zebrzydowa and OSP Nowogrodziec Osiedle took part in the operation. The firefighting operation lasted approximately two hours. Police were also working at the scene, securing the area and conducting investigative activities.
Officers quickly determined the cause of the fire. It turned out that the flames had been ignited while one of the residents was burning grass. No one was injured, but the material losses are considerable.
Firefighters are once again appealing for common sense. Although vegetation is beginning to turn green, a long-lasting lack of rainfall means that grass and soil remain very dry. Combined with the wind, this creates an extremely high risk of fire spreading rapidly.
The services remind residents that burning grass is not only dangerous but also illegal and may lead to serious consequences—both financial and legal.
