On 11 April 2026, Edward Konat—a resident of Bolesławiec—will celebrate an extraordinary jubilee: his 100th birthday. On the eve of this celebration, 10 April, the distinguished jubilarian was visited by the city’s deputy mayor Robert Rzepnicki, USC head Beata Skrzypek, representatives of the Social Insurance Institution, and Danuta Mucha, who is close to the family and has provided neighbourly assistance for years.

Warm words, smiles and good wishes were shared. Although Mr Konat’s life has not spared him (he is a widower and has lost his only son), he has retained his positive outlook and exceptional sense of humour.

Edward Konat served in the Polish Army. He acquired veteran entitlements for taking part in wartime operations in 1947 against UPA units near Baligród, Cisna, Wołkowyja and other locations. He came to Bolesławiec from Leśna. For many years, he worked at the “Konrad” Mining Plants, and boxing was his great passion. The sport is still part of his life—he now follows boxing matches on television with great interest.

We wish Mr Edward two hundred years!
