On Saturday, 3 October, I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Władysława Broniewskiego in Bolesławiec is celebrating its 80th anniversary. It is an opportunity to return to the school and meet again after many years.

The morning part of the celebrations at the school has already concluded. The programme included meetings in classrooms and the café, commemorative photographs, and exhibitions of school chronicles, former teaching aids and the achievements of graduates. The unveiling of a plaque dedicated to the teachers and staff who shaped the institution’s history was also planned.

The anniversary celebrations have now moved to the Teatr Stary. A ceremonial gala is taking place there and is scheduled to continue until 3 p.m. In the evening, participants will meet again – the “Graduates’ Evening”, a feast with music, will begin at 6 p.m. at Ranczu Piotrowski in Bolesławice.

The celebrations will continue on Sunday, 4 October. At 11 a.m., flowers will be laid at the graves of teachers in the Municipal Cemetery. From noon to 1:30 p.m., a historical tour of the school and the former Royal Orphanage will take place with graduate and historian Dariusz Gołębiewski. At 4 p.m., a concelebrated Mass led by priests who are graduates of the secondary school will begin in the Bolesławiec basilica.

The anniversary is accompanied by Bernard Łętowski’s photographic exhibition “80 Portraits for the 80th Anniversary”, available at the market square from 2 October.
