The OSP in Nowogrodziec is celebrating 80 years of activity. The anniversary celebrations, held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, provided an opportunity to recall the unit’s history, honor distinguished firefighters and highlight the role OSP has played in the life of the local community for decades.
Representatives of local government authorities, the State Fire Service, Volunteer Fire Service units, as well as institutions and organizations involved in fire protection, attended the ceremony.
Plaque commemorates the founders of OSP in Nowogrodziec
One of the most important points of the anniversary was the unveiling of a commemorative plaque dedicated to the founders of the Volunteer Fire Service in Nowogrodziec.
The plaque was unveiled by Mayor Joanna Świder and firefighter Marek Przychodzki. The artifact was then blessed by Dean Krzysztof Słabicki.
The commemorative plaque is intended to remind people of those who laid the foundations of the Nowogrodziec unit 80 years ago.
80 years of history and service to residents
Firefighter Marek Przychodzki presented the history of the Volunteer Fire Service in Nowogrodziec.
It was an opportunity to recall the most important events in the unit’s history and the people who became involved in its activities over the following decades.
Pennant for the Youth Firefighting Team
The younger generation of firefighters held a special place during the celebrations. A pennant was ceremonially presented to the Youth Firefighting Team in Nowogrodziec.
Firefighters received medals and distinctions
The anniversary was also an opportunity to honor people who had distinguished themselves through their work for the Volunteer Fire Service in Nowogrodziec.
The Bronze Medal for Meritorious Service to Firefighting was awarded to firefighter Oskar Kukawski.
The Exemplary Firefighter badge was received by firefighter Hubert Janeczko.
The “For Years of Service” badge for 25 years of service was awarded to firefighter Wojciech Tomaszewski.
During the ceremony, acknowledgments were also presented for many years of service, commitment and contributions to the unit’s development.
The Volunteer Fire Service in Nowogrodziec also received a Certificate of Recognition awarded by the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Branch of the Association of Volunteer Fire Services of the Republic of Poland.

Eighty years of the unit’s existence is a beautiful history created by successive generations of firefighters, whose courage, responsibility and social commitment have become a lasting part of Nowogrodziec’s history. It is also a testament to their attachment to the firefighting tradition, mutual solidarity and service that, for generations, has served the common good and the safety of residents.
