Officers from the Police Station in Leśna, while patrolling Platerówka, noticed the driver of an Audi with German registration plates approaching them. – The police decided to stop the driver for a roadside check. When they approached the car, they activated the light and sound signals in the patrol car, thereby signaling him to stop – reports asp. Justyna Bujakiewicz-Rodzeń from the Lubań District Police Headquarters. – Then the man suddenly accelerated and began to flee.

The officers informed the duty officer at the Lubań command of the situation and then began the pursuit. At one point, the man turned onto a gravel road and then drove into a field. The spokeswoman said: – Seeing the difficult conditions, the officers got out of the patrol car and continued the pursuit on foot to avoid getting the vehicle stuck. The Audi driver soon became bogged down in the soft ground and was unable to continue driving. That was when he was arrested.

What did the fugitive have on his conscience?

The 44-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County, as it turned out, had a lot to answer for. He did not have a driving license, while the Audi he was driving had registration plates assigned to another vehicle and was not registered.

What is more, the 44-year-old’s dilated pupils indicated that he might also be under the influence of drugs, which was confirmed by an initial drug test. The officers ordered blood to be drawn for laboratory testing.

What will the 44-year-old be charged with?

The man will now be held responsible for fleeing from the police and ignoring an order to stop the vehicle. The list of charges may grow longer – if the tests confirm the presence of drugs in his system, another serious charge will be added. But that is not all – the 44-year-old used registration plates assigned to another vehicle and drove without a license.

The 44-year-old will answer for his actions in court. He faces up to five years in prison.
