As reported by the 10th Armored Cavalry Brigade in Świętoszów:

More than 100 volunteers reported today to the #10BKPanc to undergo one month of training as part of Voluntary Basic Military Service.

The Homeland Defense Act introduced a new type of military service—voluntary basic military service. It is a form of military service intended for all those who have never previously served in the military. It makes it possible to complete military training and, in the future, join the reserves or enter the professional army.

Until recently, people interested in military service could, for example—apart from studying at a military academy or completing an officer or non-commissioned officer course—apply for preparatory service. However, that option was abolished by the Homeland Defense Act, which has been in force since April 23, 2022. Instead of preparatory service, a new option for active service for volunteers was introduced: voluntary basic military service. Registering for it is the first step toward being called up to join the Polish Armed Forces.
