At 🕰️2:16 a.m., a report of a building fire was received by the PSP Dispatch Center in Lubań.
The fire spread rapidly, engulfing the floor, attic and roof of the building. By the time firefighters arrived, the entire building was already on fire.
As the eluban.pl newspaper reported:
During a search of the fire site, rescuers found a human body.
The Lwówek Śląski District Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the case. It concerns “causing an incident endangering the life or health of many people or property of great value, in the form of a fire, as a result of which one person died.”
What have investigators established?
As established, in the early morning of March 5, 2026, a fire broke out in Świeradów-Zdrój in an unoccupied, two-story building—a guesthouse. – After extinguishing the fire in the stairwell, Fire Service officers found a man’s charred remains. His identity has not yet been established – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska of the Jelenia Góra Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Together with Police officers and a fire investigation expert, the prosecutor inspected the scene, securing traces and evidence. The remains were also secured; an autopsy will be carried out. – This procedure will make it possible to establish the victim’s identity and the cause of death – the prosecutor’s office spokesperson explains.
At present, the cause of the fire is unknown. Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska:
