Staff sergeant Paweł Maziara, a police officer from the District Police Headquarters in Lubań, received information on 3 March about an elderly resident of Lwówek Śląski who had not been collecting meals delivered by a catering company for several days. “The situation caused concern, so the officer immediately passed the information on to police officers from the Lwówek Śląski station,” explains junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz.

The officers went to the indicated address to check whether the woman needed help. They found the door locked. Although sounds coming from the apartment indicated that someone might be inside, no one responded to knocking or calls to open the door.

Out of concern for the elderly woman’s life and health, a decision was made to force entry into the apartment.

Firefighters from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Lwówek Śląski joined the operation and enabled safe access to the inside of the apartment.

Spokeswoman: “As it turned out, help arrived at the last moment. A 76-year-old woman was found lying on the floor and required immediate medical assistance. An Emergency Medical Team was called to the scene. After receiving first aid, the elderly woman was transported to hospital.

And she adds:

This situation shows how important vigilance and the rapid exchange of information between services are. Thanks to the proper response and cooperation of police officers and firefighters, a tragedy was prevented.
