Thursday, February 5, 2026, went down in the history of Bolesławiec and Bolesławiec County as the day when ice encased the entire area. Freezing rain that fell throughout Wednesday evening and the night from Wednesday to Thursday caused roads and sidewalks to become covered with a layer of ice that made getting around practically impossible. It was difficult to remain standing, let alone attempt to drive a car.

Because of the disastrous road conditions, PKS and MZK buses stopped running on Thursday. The driving-school cars that are usually numerous on Bolesławiec's roads were also nowhere to be seen. A large number of people stayed home and did not go to work.

Parking lots in Bolesławiec's residential estates were almost full, something that usually happens during the day on non-working days. Meanwhile, the parking lot at Piłsudski Square was deserted, which in turn does not happen on working days. Road services battled the elements, but the situation was exceptional. Practically everything was covered in ice: every road, every sidewalk, every square.

On Friday, February 6, the situation began to improve. Most roads are now passable. Buses are running. Driving-school cars have returned to Bolesławiec's roads. The problem of available parking spaces has returned at the parking lot at Piłsudski Square, while the residential-estate parking lots have become less crowded. Ice still covers some sidewalks and residential roads, so caution is still advised.
