Preliminary findings by officers indicate that a BMW left the roadway and hit a tree. Two men traveling in the vehicle died at the scene as a result of the accident.
Police reported that both men were 31 years old and Ukrainian citizens living in Lwówek County.
Police point to a possible cause of the accident
According to preliminary findings, the loss of control of the car may have been caused by failing to adjust the speed to the road conditions. At this stage, however, this is only a probable cause. The exact circumstances and course of the incident are still being investigated.
Police officers worked at the scene, conducting activities under the supervision of a prosecutor to determine what led to the tragedy.
Police appeal to drivers
In connection with the accident, officers remind drivers of the need to exercise particular caution when driving in autumn. Rainfall, fog, wet leaves and rapidly falling darkness can impair visibility and increase the risk of losing traction.
Police stress that the speed limit set by law is not always a safe speed. Drivers should adjust their speed to current conditions, keep an appropriate distance from other vehicles and avoid sudden maneuvers.
