The incident occurred on January 2 this year in Piechowice. The officer established that electricity was being consumed in one of the apartments by bypassing the meter. The man connected an electrical cable to a utility pole outside a multi-unit residential building and then distributed electricity throughout the apartment using extension cords.

A representative of the injured company was called to the scene and confirmed the illegal connection to the electrical installation. The 43-year-old man was detained.

During further proceedings, police established that this was not the first such incident. The man had also stolen electricity in December of the previous year, causing losses of approximately PLN 12,000. As a result, he was charged with two offenses.

He will face the court for the crimes committed. He faces up to five years in prison.

We remind you that electricity theft is a crime regardless of the amount of losses and carries criminal liability even when the value of the damage is low.
