The incident occurred on January 29, 2026, in the evening hours. – Junior Asp. Patryk Górecki and Senior Police Officer Kacper Kędziora from the Police Station in Chojnów were dispatched to Czernikowice, where a fire had broken out in one of the utility rooms – reports Asp. Anna Tersa from the Legnica Municipal Police Headquarters.
The officers were the first to arrive at the scene. They confirmed the report and immediately began rescue operations.
A man who was unable to evacuate on his own was inside the burning building. Despite the danger, the police officers entered the room engulfed in flames and carried the man out, saving his life.
The officers also secured the scene by removing gas cylinders from the building, which could have caused an explosion and significantly increased the danger.
