Legnica police:
Every day, incidents occur on the roads that change the lives of many people in an instant. A moment of inattention, haste or lack of caution can lead to a tragedy that cannot be undone. One such dramatic incident occurred on national road no. 94, on the Legnica–Chojnów section.
As the officers established:
The driver of a Dacia, a 21-year-old man, hit a pedestrian crossing the road within an intersection. The 78-year-old pedestrian died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
The driver was sober; however, in accordance with the applicable procedures, his blood was collected for further testing. All activities at the scene were conducted under the supervision of a prosecutor. Police: – The circumstances and exact course of the accident are currently being thoroughly investigated.
The police command:
This tragedy once again shows how little it takes for irreversible consequences to occur. We appeal to drivers to exercise particular caution, especially near intersections and pedestrian crossings, reduce their speed and constantly observe the road. Every moment of inattention can cost someone their life.
It also adds:
We also remind pedestrians that they must make sure they can safely enter the road, even at designated crossing points, and that after dark they should wear reflective elements, which significantly increase their visibility.
