The incident occurred on Thursday, December 11, at around 6:00 a.m., near the village of Godzieszów. As podkom. Anna Kublik-Rościszewska, press officer of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec, told the eluban.pl service:

A 63-year-old man from Lubań driving an Opel lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree. The driver was traveling with a passenger, a resident of Lubań County. Both men were taken to hospitals in Zgorzelec and Lubań.

As the Lubań daily established:

As a result of the collision, the Opel's driver became trapped in the vehicle. Two people were traveling in the car, but the most serious injuries were suffered by the man behind the wheel, who went into cardiac arrest. Resuscitation was necessary and, fortunately, it was successful.

Police are investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident. Officers are appealing for caution and prudence on the road.
