The incident occurred on Sunday, December 1, in Lwówek Śląski. The duty officer of the County Police Headquarters received a report about a man known to the police who was causing a disturbance in one of the apartment blocks on Jana Pawła II Street.
As junior aspirant Olga Łukaszewicz, the press officer of the local County Police Headquarters, told lwowecki.info, the 32-year-old locked the apartment and turned on the gas. He also threatened to kill his mother.
Firefighters were called to the scene. Twenty-eight people were evacuated. The officers forced their way into the apartment.
The 32-year-old was detained; he had been drinking alcohol. He was first taken to a specialist hospital in Bolesławiec and then placed in a police cell. A motion has also been filed for the suspect’s temporary detention.
