– Last weekend, we were dispatched to Miłków, where a woman aged around 40 was injured. A firework exploded in her hand. She suffered an isolated hand injury and was transported to the emergency department in Jelenia Góra – Paweł Bednarek, press spokesperson for the Emergency Medical Service in Jelenia Góra, told the Lubań newspaper.
Setting off fireworks can be far more dangerous than one might think. A moment of inattention, leaning too close over the charge or even a defective product is enough to cause serious injuries. The most common consequences include burns, hand injuries, loss of fingers, eye injuries and even permanent hearing impairment.
Fireworks are pyrotechnic materials—they work like small explosive charges. One mistake can turn a celebration into a tragedy. That is why it is so important to set them off only according to the instructions, while maintaining distance, sobriety and common sense.
