The incident occurred during the night of November 12–13 this year in Świerzawa, in Złotoryja County. A garage caught fire. Police officers and fire service units were dispatched to the scene.
Police:
One of the first people to arrive at the scene was an officer from the criminal department of the District Police Headquarters in Złotoryja, who was off duty at the time and lived nearby. Seeing the fire spreading from the windows of his apartment, he immediately rushed to help the residents.
One of the garages was completely engulfed in flames. There was a real risk that the fire would soon spread to the remaining buildings. Unit: – Thanks to the police officer’s decisive response, one of the cars was removed from the garage. The second car, due to the heavy smoke, was removed by firefighters equipped with specialist equipment.
While the firefighting operation was underway, the police officer not only helped evacuate the endangered property but also established the circumstances and causes of the incident. The information he gathered made it possible to quickly determine that the fire had most likely been deliberately started.

At the scene, police officers arrested a man suspected of setting fire to the garage. The 38-year-old was charged with destroying property worth PLN 15,000. The court will make further decisions in his case.
