The last weekend was very busy for Bolesławiec police officers watching over road safety in the district. Officers arrested as many as five drivers who were under the influence of alcohol. Among them were both a cyclist and drivers from two other districts. The police: – They will all face the consequences of their irresponsible behaviour.

The intoxicated cyclist is a resident of Bolesławiec County. Officers:

The 59-year-old was riding a bicycle with 0.7 per mille of alcohol in his system.

Two other men had a similar alcohol level; they were driving vehicles while intoxicated. Both the resident of Bolesławiec County and the driver from Oleśnica County will stand trial.

Bolesławiec police:

The most dangerous behaviour was displayed by a 47-year-old driver from Kluczbork County, who was stopped on the A4 motorway. In dense fog, the man was driving at more than 135 km/h where the applicable limit was 110 km/h, and he had 1.2 per mille of alcohol in his system. The combination of excessive speed and alcohol could have led to tragic consequences.

The 40-year-old woman had the most alcohol in her system. The test showed that the resident of Bolesławiec County got behind the wheel with 2.6 per mille.

Police remind the public that driving under the influence of alcohol is one of the main factors in fatal crashes. Although riding a bicycle after drinking alcohol is an offence, it still poses a real danger—both to the rider and to other road users.

Officers announce further intensified checks, especially during weekends. Anyone who decides to drive a vehicle after drinking alcohol must expect severe consequences—loss of their driving licence, a substantial fine, and even imprisonment. Police officers once again appeal for common sense and responsibility on the road.
