The incident took place overnight from November 1 to 2. – It was around 1 a.m. when police officers from the prevention department, patrolling the city streets, heard the screech of tires – reports junior inspector Sylwia Serafin, press officer for the Lubin KPP. – As they drove to the place from which the sound had come, they noticed the lights of a car on the roundabout island and a man fleeing from the abandoned vehicle.
The officers gave chase. They caught the fleeing man after several dozen meters. The spokesperson: – While officers attempted to restrain him, the 23-year-old put up active and passive resistance. He was very aggressive and agitated. Despite numerous orders to behave lawfully, he did not comply.
A traffic patrol then arrived at the scene. The officers checked the man's sobriety. The policewoman: – A breathalyzer test showed that he had more than 1.1 per mille of alcohol in his system.
What is more, it emerged that the 23-year-old should not have gotten behind the wheel of any vehicle at all because… he did not have a driving licence.
To make matters worse, it turned out that the Lubin resident had been fleeing because he was carrying drugs. When he was arrested, he was holding a jar of marijuana.
The 23-year-old was taken to a police cell. After sobering up, he was charged. For the crimes he committed, he could face up to 3 years in prison.
