At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered the temporary detention of a 38-year-old resident of Lwówek County suspected of attempting to murder his wife, raping her, and physically and psychologically abusing their six minor children. – As established, from 2023 to 27 October 2025, the perpetrator physically and psychologically abused his wife and children – reports Ewa Węglarowicz-Makowska, press spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Jelenia Góra. – He started baseless arguments during which he called his wife commonly accepted offensive names, threatened to kill her, and also pulled her by the hair and clothes, pushed, hit and kicked her all over her body. He behaved similarly towards his minor sons when they tried to defend their mother.

She adds: – The perpetrator also psychologically abused the three youngest children, who were helpless because of their age, starting arguments in their presence during which he hit their mother, while calling the children vulgar names, shouting at and humiliating them. In this way, he made them feel threatened.

That was not all. According to the findings of the investigation, on 5 July 2025, while his wife was asleep, the man attempted to kill her by holding a kitchen knife to her throat. The crime was not completed because the woman woke up and defended herself. At that point, the perpetrator, using his physical advantage, raped her.

After being brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lwówek Śląski, the 38-year-old was charged with attempting to murder his wife, raping her, and physically and psychologically abusing members of his family, including minor children. He faces up to life imprisonment.

The suspect, who had no prior criminal record, partially admitted to committing the alleged offences. He gave an explanation.
