On 30 October, officers from the Patrol Unit of the District Police Headquarters in Lubań intervened against a driver who was violating traffic regulations while driving a passenger car. – Officers received information from witnesses about the man's dangerous behavior on the road, which became the direct reason for the inspection – explains Senior Constable Aleksandra Pieprzycka from the Press Section of the Provincial Police Headquarters in Wrocław.

The driver ignored the officers' instructions and began fleeing, creating a real threat to other road users. The police spokesperson reports:

The chase continued through city streets near a large discount grocery store and a primary school, significantly increasing the risk to pedestrians, including children and people shopping, and could have led to a serious accident.

The officers continued the chase, trying to prevent a tragedy.

The incident ended on one of the city's streets after the officers used a police car to push the fleeing vehicle off the road, preventing the driver from continuing.

The incident involved a 35-year-old passenger-car driver and a 30-year-old female passenger who, after the necessary procedures were completed, was released to her place of residence. – During the intervention, it was established that the 35-year-old, a resident of Lubań County, was subject to a court ban on driving motor vehicles – the policewoman reports. – Officers tested him with a breathalyzer, and it turned out that he had been driving while intoxicated.

Additionally, a drug test detected intoxicating substances in his body, so blood was drawn for further testing. Police also found drugs in the impounded car, further complicating the detainee's legal situation.

At the request of the police and prosecutor's office, the court ordered the suspect to be held in temporary detention for two months.

Police appeal for caution on the road:

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as ignoring court-imposed bans, constitutes a serious violation of the law that can have tragic consequences for everyone using the road. Officers also remind drivers that fleeing a traffic check is a crime and significantly increases the risk of an accident. Cases like this serve as a warning to all drivers: responsibility on the road does not end with following the rules, but also includes common sense and awareness of the consequences of one's actions.
