The incident occurred on Thursday, at around 7:40 p.m. Legnica police officers were dispatched to the village of Janowice Duże. – The driver of an Audi passenger car left the road, then rolled down an embankment and overturned – reports Commissioner Jagoda Ekiert, press officer of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Legnica.

The first person to arrive at the scene was a witness who heard the impact and immediately ran to check what had happened. The spokesperson said: – The man saw the car upside down, with a woman sitting in the driver's seat. He helped her get out of the vehicle before the emergency services arrived. His quick and decisive response deserves particular recognition.

Paramedics provided the woman with medical assistance. The police then tested her for alcohol. It turned out that the driver was completely drunk; she had nearly 2‰ of alcohol in her exhaled breath.

The result? A policewoman said: – The officers confiscated the driver's licence, and the vehicle was secured by a roadside assistance company. The woman will now face charges for driving while intoxicated under Article 178a §1 of the Penal Code, for which she faces up to 3 years in prison.
